Player X Does All the Running!

| |

Thinking Triangles Maximizes Your Options!

In this drill Player X does all the running and all the work.  Players Y and Z have supporting roles and simply pass the ball.   (Note: corners are all 5 yards apart.)

There are 2 sequence of events whereby Player X uses teammates for support:

Sequence 1 -

(1-A) Player X passes the ball back to Player Y
(1-B) Player X runs to open space on the left
(1-C) Player Y passes the ball to Player X

Sequence 2 -

(2-A) Player X passes the ball back to Player Z
(2-B) Player X runs to open space on the right
(2-C) Player Z passes the ball to Player X

Speed and Quality of Execution is Key - It is important that Player X deliver a quality pass back to Players Y and Z.  If the pass back is off target or too fast / slow, then Player Z will have difficulty delivering a quality pass in sequence (1-C) or (2-C).

Player X Must Time Their Run  so they will arrive at the same time the ball does.

3 Touch the Ball - Player X should have plenty of time to 3 Touch the Ball (Trap, Stop with Foot, Lookup and Pass) and deliver a quality pass back.
